Pires in Arsenal talks

Robert Pires is vowing to make a decision on his future next week – after today holding talks with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger.

The 33-year-old Frenchman was widely believed to have played his last game for the Gunners in Wednesday’s Champions League final after he was only offered a 12-month contract by Wenger.

But the winger still hopes he can secure a two-year deal and is not ruling out playing for the team in their first season at their new stadium at Ashburton Grove.

However, if Pires does not get the deal he wants, he will end his six-year stay with the north London side.

He told The Sun: “It is true Villarreal have offered me a two-year deal – but I have three offers. “I will make a decision next week but I am not yet a Villarreal player - that’s for sure.”
