Boro bring back big guns for final

Middlesbrough boss Steve McClaren returned to his big guns in Eindhoven tonight as he attempted to end his reign by lifting the UEFA Cup.

Only James Morrison of the men who figured in Sunday’s 1-0 Premiership defeat at Aston Villa was retained as goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer, captain Gareth Southgate and Mark Viduka were all restored after injury.

Massimo Maccarone, the hero of the last two rounds, was again in reserve on the bench alongside leading scorer Aiyegbeni Yakubu and teenager Lee Cattermole.

Sevilla coach Juande Ramos named former West Ham and Tottenham striker Fredi Kanoute among his substitutes as Argentinian dangerman Javier Saviola was paired with Luis Fabiano in attack.
