The 26-year-old Greece international defender held talks with Gers officials at Murray Park on Tuesday and now looks set for a return to Athens.

Despite playing for Panathinaikos, Kyrgiakos is reported to be a target of their rivals, Olympiacos.

A statement on the club‘s official website, www.rangers.co.uk, said: “The 26-year-old, during an amicable meeting with club officials, made a point of thanking the staff for their help and assistance during his time at Ibrox.”

Meanwhile, Chelsea teenager Dean Furman has signed a two-year deal with the Ibrox club.
