The club’s player of the year has been struggling with an ankle problem and missed the last four games.

Definitely out are goalkeeper Richard Wright (gashed knee), Tony Hibbert (hernia operation), Tim Cahill (knee) and Lee Carsley (suspended). Nuno Valente is in the squad but unlikely to play.

Reserve-team striker Victor Anichebe may also get a run-out, while Iain Turner will play in goal.

Provisional squad: Turner, Yobo, Weir, Stubbs, Naysmith, Davies, Neville, Van der Meyde, McFadden, Osman, Kilbane, Beattie, Ruddy, Valente, Ferrari, Ferguson, Arteta, Anichebe, Vidarsson.
