Cork suffer first defeat of season at St Pat's
St Patrick’s Athletic 2 Cork City 0
Resurgent St. Pat’s inflicted a first league defeat of the season on champions Cork at Richmond Park.
Saints took the game to injury-hit Cork and deserved to be a goal to the good at the break.
Sean O’Connor was causing Cork all sorts of problems and his cross found Michael Foley who volleyed inches over the City bar.
But Saints got their noses in front on 33 minutes when out-of-sorts City skipper Dan Murray headed John Frost’s cross into his own net following a mix up with keeper Michael Devine.
Trevor Molloy sealed Saints' win four minutes into the second half with a terrific solo effort, cutting in from the left to fire past Devine.
