Lordan out of Cork City’s squad
Cillian Lordan has been forced to pull out of Cork City’s squad that travels to face St Pat’s at Richmond Park in Inchicore tonight.
The City full-back twisted his knee in training last night when blocking a shot and has opted out of the televised away trip to the Supersaints.
George O’Callaghan will not travel either as he tries to shake off a badly bruised ankle/instep and he will have more physio, ultra sound and salt water treatments over the weekend.
“I will be down by the sea again in Redbarn and Youghal and possibly in Fountainstown for the weekend to let the sea-water and the iodine get at the bruising. The sea water is a great help with the healing process but I hate missing matches,” said O’Callaghan, who will be rested for two weeks.
Denis Behan has a rib injury since the Setanta Cup defeat to Drogheda and manager Damien Richardson rates him doubtful too.
Cork have new signing Vinny Sullivan and Admir Softic ready to step in tonight against a St. Pat’s side that have not beaten City at Inchicore since January 2003.
John O’Flynn (hamstring) is travelling with the squad but, he too, is considered a big doubt.
Like Behan, he will undergo a fitness test before kick-off.
“It’s a bad time for us, injury-wise, but we will just have to get on with it now and go after all three points tonight,” said Richardson, as his side seek to claim a first away win of the season.
