Paul Doolin took a break from his preparations ahead of this Saturday’s Setanta Sports Cup final to sign a three-year extension to his current contract with Drogheda United.

Director Chris Byrne who represented the board in the negotiations was delighted with the outcome that will see Paul remain with the club until the 2009 season.

Speaking on behalf of the club Chris paid tribute to Doolin, the most successful manager in the club's history, after delivering FAI Cup success to Drogheda last December

“Paul Doolin is a winner, he was a winner as a player and now he is a winner as a manager,” he added. “The club is delighted to have Paul at the helm and everybody at the club will continue to support Paul in our quest for further honours."
