Judge on target as Sligo claim points
Sligo Rovers 3 Waterford United 1
Matthew Judge made a telling contribution with a goal on his first start for Sligo as Sean Connor’s side moved up to fifth in the table.
Paul McTiernan scored his first goal of the season to give Sligo the perfect start after just five minutes.
Left-back Keith Foy worked a one-two down the left with Matt Judge and McTiernan got on the end of the cross to shoot past Jimmy Fyfe.
Blues were level within eight minutes, though, when Brendan Hughes headed home at the back post after Gavin Doyle flicked on Ian Fraher’s corner.
But Judge restored Sligo lead on 65 minutes when punishing a defensive blunder to lob Fyfe.
Substitute Sean Flannery added the clinching third goal on 80 minutes with a close range finish from Adam Hughes’ lay off.
