Charlton manager Alan Curbishley took no chances ahead of next week’s FA Cup quarter-final replay, making several changes for the Barclays Premiership clash against Everton at The Valley.

England duo Luke Young and Darren Bent were out with ankle problems, although the Addicks striker was rested as a precaution ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Middlesbrough.

Veteran full-back Chris Powell was also out, with Gonzalo Sorondo making only his second start of the season at centre-back.

Striker Marcus Bent lined up against the club he left in January alongside Jay Bothroyd, while youngster Osei Sankofa was named on the bench.

Everton had fit-again midfielder Mikel Arteta back in the starting line-up, along with Lee Carsley.

Charlton: Myhre, Spector, Perry, Sorondo, Hreidarsson, Kishishev, Holland, Euell, Thomas, Marcus Bent, Bothroyd. Subs: Andersen, Bartlett, Ambrose, Rommedahl, Sankofa.

Everton: Wright, Hibbert, Yobo, Stubbs, Neville, Osman, Carsley, Cahill, Arteta, Beattie, McFadden. Subs: Turner, Naysmith, Weir, Ferguson, Davies.
