Longford and Vikings share the spoils
Longford Town 1 Dublin City 1
Dessie Baker earned Longford a point from a late penalty, but it was no more than Alan Mathews' midlanders deserved from a match they really should have won.
Town shaded the first half with Andy Myler shooting over early on before a brilliant block by Damien Brennan on Alan Kirby prevented what seemed a certain goal on 36 minutes.
Three minutes earlier, Town keeper Shay Kelly had to show his agility to tip over a Mick O’Donnell free-kick.
Vikings took the lead on 69 minutes when he reacted quickest to shoot home the rebound after his initial shot came back off a post.
But a hand ball by Vikings’ defender Gavin McDonnell presented Baker with the spot kick which he duly shot past Gary Rogers.
