Birmingham City’s hopes to move to a new stadium down the road from St Andrews have been dashed after the bid to land a casino licence to help finance the switch were booted into touch by the local city council.

Birmingham City’s hopes to move to a new stadium down the road from St Andrews have been dashed after the bid to land a casino licence to help finance the switch were booted into touch by the local city council.

Birmingham had hoped their bid would be put forward by the city council to the Government who decide in which cities the super casinos can operate.

But the city council today voted to support a rival bid from the National Exhibition Centre which is outside the city in the neighbouring borough of Solihull.
