Australian Adam Hughes scored the winner to give Sligo Rovers a happy return to the eircom Premier Division after a six year absence.
Impressive right-back Gavin Peers cleared off the Rovers line from Tony Grant early on before the home side got their reward for finishing the first half much the better side with what proved the winner.
Bohs keeper Stephen O’Brien made good stops from his own defender Jason McGuinness and then Paul McTiernan before the deadlock was broken in stoppage time.
Keith Foy’s free-kick wasn’t dealt with and Adam Hughes scrambled the ball home at the back post.
Bohs had much of the possession in the second half and almost snatched a point at the death but for a sueprb tip over save from John O'Hara from Stephen Ward's header.
