Cork secure Setanta semi-final slot
Dungannon Swifts 0 Cork City 1
Denis Behan scored the only goal of the night as Cork City became the first side to reach the semi-finals of the Setanta Sports Cup with two games to spare.
Cork’s John O’Flynn had two early chances, firing into the sidenetting before bringing a good save out of Swifts keeper David Wells.
But it was Swifts who had the best openings of the first half, both from Rodney McAree.
Midfielder McAree brought a terrific save from Cork keeper Michael Devine on 39 minutes before seeing another piledriver come back off a post in first half stoppage time.
Cork snatched the lead on 52 minutes, however, when Behan got on the end of O’Flynn’s low cross from the left to touch the ball home from close range.
Swifts almost leveled 12 minutes later but Tim Adamson’s shot form just inside the area shaved the bar.
