Keegan on target for Drogheda

Paul Keegan scored the only goal of the match as cup holders Drogheda got their title challenge off to a winning start at Dalymount Park.

John Paul Kelly had a penalty claims waved away while Bohs team-mate Vinny Arkins shot narrowly wide as Gypsies had marginally the better of the first half. But Drogheda were better after the break and Keegan gave them lead on 52 minutes.

Shane Barrett did well down the right, his cross eluded Des Byrne and Barry Ferguson and Keegan tapped the ball past Stephen O’Brien.
