O'Connor's Hibs exit moves closer

Hibernian striker Garry O’Connor’s transfer to Lokomotiv Moscow is expected to be completed later today.

The Scotland international will join the Russian club for £1.6m (€2.3m) after passing a medical last week.

The 22-year-old met Lokomotiv head coach Slaboliub Muslin for the first time at the club’s pre-season training camp in Spain.

O’Connor’s agent, Gary Mackay, insists the forward is now looking forward to a new life under the Serbian in Russia.

Mackay said: “The deal is virtually through now.

“Garry is happy with the way things are going. We only met the coach this morning and had a brief chat. He obviously has years of experience in the game.

“He clearly knows how to treat people and our first impressions were excellent.

“Garry will stay in Málaga as Lokomotiv have a few games to play.

“He will then look to return to Edinburgh before flying out to Moscow.”
