Kromkamp is on a mission

Liverpool’s Dutch defender Jan Kromkamp is determined to maintain his place in the side in order to fulfil his World Cup dreams.

The 25-year-old lost his place in the Holland squad because national team coach Marco van Basten wanted to see evidence that he was playing regularly at the top level.

But Kromkamp has now played in Liverpool’s last two games and, although he is ineligible to play Benfica tomorrow night, he has high hopes of becoming a regular and then breaking back into the Holland squad.

Kromkamp told www.liverpoolfc.tv: “I hope I get back into the World Cup squad.

“The manager has a policy you must be playing regularly well at your own club to be in the national team. Lately I have not been playing regularly, which is why I was not in the squad.

“Liverpool is the most important thing to me. If I do well here then maybe I can still go to the World Cup.”
