Quashie admits charge

West Brom midfielder Nigel Quashie has admitted a Football Association charge of using abusive language towards a match official.

Quashie’s outburst came after he was given a straight red card by referee Mike Dean for kicking out at Middlesbrough midfielder George Boateng in Sunday’s 2-0 Barclays Premiership defeat at The Hawthorns.

An FA disciplinary commission will decide next Tuesday what punishment to hand out to the former Southampton player who joined West Brom for £1.2m (€1.7m) in January.

Quashie will start a four-game suspension against Chelsea on Saturday as it was his second dismissal of the campaign.

He had previously been sent off for the Saints against Hull but could see the suspension extended by the FA.
