No Chelsea deal for Ballack

A spokesman for Michael Ballack has played down speculation linking the Germany captain with a summer move to Chelsea.

Reports in England this morning suggested Ballack, who is out of contract at Bayern Munich at the end of the season and has rejected a new deal at the Allianz Arena, will sign a four-year deal with the Premiership champions.

The reports also said Ballack had visited London on two separate occasions to discuss terms with Chelsea.

But Harald Stenger, the German national team press officer, told PA Sport: “One, Michael Ballack was not in London and, two, he has not signed for Chelsea.”
