Given wins International Player of the Year award

Newcastle goalkeeper Shay Given tonight joined an illustrious list of names in being confirmed the eircom/FAI Senior International Player of the Year.

The 74-times capped player had been nominated on a few occasions previously and was the cornerstone of the Republic of Ireland’s bid to reach this summer’s World Cup finals in Germany.
