Hearts survive late onslaught

Hearts survived a late onslaught by Partick Thistle to book their place in the Tennent’s Scottish Cup semi-finals after a hard-fought2-1 win at Tynecastle.

A sixth-minute Edgaras Jankauskas header gave the home side a dream start before Deividas Cesnauskis grabbed a second in the 63rd minute.

However, Hearts substitute Roman Bednar, who had replaced Calum Elliot was sent off in the 70th minute after picking up two yellow cards – the second for diving inside the Jags area.

Thistle midfielder Mark Roberts ensured a nervy final 15 minutes for Hearts when he pulled a goal back.
