Athlone Town complete pre-season signings
Athlone Town boss Michael O'Connor has confirmed that he has agreed terms with two of the three Hungarians who have been on trial with the club for the past two weeks.
Right winger István Lakatos and striker Pedró Zsolt will stay on at Saint Mel's Park for the 2006 season, pending international clearance.
Speaking to athlonetownfc.com on his new acquisitions, Michael O'Connor said: “I'm delighted to have them. They have been very impressive during their trial period.”
“They are going to be locally based, so that means we're going to have an almost entirely locally based team.
“They'll be training with the team during the week, and that can only help them along.”
Meanwhile, 2005 Young Player of the Year Robbie Hamm has re-signed for the 2006 season.
The 19 year-old full-back had been abroad for most of the close season, and so becomes the final member of last season's squad to re-sign, and O'Connor's last signing ahead of the new season.
