Fabergas tells Henry to stay
Cesc Fabregas insists everyone at Arsenal is hoping Thierry Henry will stay.
Henry’s current deal with the Gunners runs until the summer of 2007, and he has suggested he is willing to sign a new contract.
However he has been linked with a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.
Fabregas, though, declared he would like nothing more than to play alongside Henry “for many years to come” at Arsenal.
The 18-year-old also moved to distance himself from quotes attributed to him following an interview with a Spanish radio station, which have since appeared in the English press.
“Further to a story in a newspaper today, I would like to stress I have never said that it would be ‘spectacular’ or ‘incredible’ if Thierry Henry would join Barcelona,” said Fabregas, who joined Arsenal from the Spanish club as a youngster in September 2003.
“Thierry is our leader and we are so proud of having him as our captain at Arsenal.
“We all want him to stay because of his qualities both as a world-class player and a person, and I hope to be playing with him at Arsenal for many years to come.”
