Rams fancy Yorke
Interim manager Terry Westley has confirmed Derby are interested in signing striker Dwight Yorke from Australian side Sydney FC.
The 34-year-old Yorke, formerly of Aston Villa, Manchester United, Blackburn and Birmingham, is keen on a return to English football ahead of the World Cup finals where he will captain Trinidad & Tobago.
But commitments Down Under mean Yorke could not become available until Sunday, March 5 and Westley, currently in charge of the Coca-Cola Championship side, said: “I’d imagine there’ll be a lot of clubs interested in talking to him. We’re interested too but it is a bit of a long shot.”
