Merthyr go for Gascoigne
Welsh club Merthyr Tydfil have made a bid to make Paul Gascoigne their player-manager.
The former England midfielder lasted just 39 days in his last coaching job at Kettering before allegations of drinking problems ended his tenure.
“We are very hopeful of getting the situation moving,” Mark Collins, a director at the Southern League Premier Division club, told Sky Sports News.
“We think he could bring more support to the club. If he is keen to come with us we are keen to run.
“This is a serious bid to bring Paul to Merthyr.”
