Lambert quits Livingston

Livingston player-manager Paul Lambert has resigned after the Bank of Scotland Premier League defeat by Dunfermline at Almondvale.

The former Celtic and Scotland captain stepped down after the West Lothian club slipped six points behind the Pars at the foot of the table.

The 36-year-old left Celtic Park in the summer to take over from Richard Gough at Livingston.

But, following the 7-0 defeat at Hibernian in midweek, the loss against Dunfermline has left the club in serious danger of relegation and prompted Lambert to step down.
