Jewell is striker light

Wigan manager Paul Jewell faces a striker crisis ahead of his side’s Barclays Premiership clash with Liverpool at the JJB Stadium tomorrow.

Jason Roberts serves the second of a three-match suspension, David Connolly and Lee McCulloch are injured, while on-loan Neil Mellor is ineligible as he cannot play against his current employers.

Jewell is hoping Henri Camara will return from African Nations Cup duty, but after playing for Senegal in yesterday’s third-place play-off defeat to Nigeria, there are no guarantees. To add to Jewell’s troubles right-back Pascal Chimbonda misses his first league game through suspension.
