Real Sociedad sign duo on loan from England

Real Sociedad have confirmed the loan signings of Mark Gonzalez from Liverpool and John Viafara from Portsmouth until the end of the season.

Chile midfielder Gonzalez has yet to play for the European champions due to work permit problems while Viafara has struggled to make an impact at Pompey after joining from Once Caldas last summer.

A statement on the club’s official website, www.realsociedad.com read: “Real Sociedad have reached an initial agreement with Liverpool and Portsmouth for the transfers until the end of the season of players Mark Gonzalez and John Viafara, respectively.

“Both players will undergo on Monday a medical before they sign the contracts.”
