With Roy Keane injured, Bobo Balde at the African Nations Cup and Stephen McManus suspended, Stanislav Varga appeared – for the first time since last November – alongside Adam Virgo in the centre.

Meanwhile, Mo Camara started at left-back ahead of Ross Wallace.

Motherwell manager Terry Butcher made one change to the side which were unfortunate to lose at home to Rangers last week with Kevin McBride replacing fellow Parkhead old boy Phil O’Donnell.
