Rovers release Jansen
Blackburn have agreed to release Matt Jansen from his contract after the striker failed to force his way back into manager Mark Hughes’ first-team plans.
The 28-year-old Jansen started just 13 Premiership games since recovering from a motorcycle accident in 2002 and had been shunted further down the pecking order at Ewood Park.
Chairman John Williams said: “Given Matt’s contribution over the years we feel we should not stand in his way. He needs a new challenge and on behalf of everyone connected with the club we wish him well.”
