Vieri in talks with Monaco
AC Milan have confirmed that they are in talks with Monaco for the sale of striker Christian Vieri.
Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani revealed after Sunday’s 4-3 triumph against Parma that the club are considering selling Vieri, who has been linked with Tottenham and Newcastle among others.
“There is an important negotiation with Monaco regarding Vieri,” said Galliani. “In the next few days we will see whether the talks can be successful.
“There are many teams that want to sign him (Vieri) on loan, but we cannot accept this because we would need a replacement.
“He will leave as a permanent transfer and only if the deal is completed within the next two to three days.”
Vieri, who joined the Rossoneri from city rivals Inter Milan just six months ago, has failed to make much of an impact at the San Siro with Andriy Shevchenko and Alberto Gilardino ahead of him in the pecking order.
The Italian international who is under contract until June 2007, has considered a move elsewhere in search of more playing time, with his place in Marcello Lippi’s World Cup in jeopardy.
