Lennon still tempted by Premiership return

Celtic captain Neil Lennon may leave the club if the Hoops clinch the Bank of Scotland Premier League title this season.

The former Northern Ireland international’s contract ends in the summer.

At 34, the ex-Leicester and Crewe midfielder is considering a possible return to the Premiership – although he insists he is happy at Celtic Park.

Lennon told BBC Sportsweek: “If we win the title I might think enough is enough and look elsewhere – but for the time being, I’m really happy.

“I always said if I did leave I would like another crack at the Premiership.

“People look at your age, but I’m averaging 50 games a season up here.”

He added: “I signed a one-year contract in the summer, and that’s up for review either this month or June.

“I haven’t put the club under any pressure. My main priority is winning the championship, partly because I am the captain but also because of how things ended last year.

“That’s the main priority, and then I hope I’ll sit down with the club. I’m not going to go banging down anyone’s door.”
