Boston striker Noel Whelan has voluntarily admitted himself into a treatment clinic because of concerns over his drinking levels, it was revealed tonight.

The 31-year-old former Leeds and Middlesbrough striker authorised the charity Sporting Chance, to announce that he was seeking treatment at their clinic in Forest Mere, Hampshire.
