Cole set for Blues return
Chelsea welcome back England midfielder Joe Cole for the visit of League One side Huddersfield in the FA Cup third round at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.
Cole served a one-match ban by missing the Barclays Premiership victory over West Ham on Monday but he is likely to be included in the starting line-up. However, manager Jose Mourinho is almost certain to rest some of his senior players with Frank Lampard, John Terry, and Petr Cech being the likely candidates.
Carlo Cudicini will deputise in goal for Cech while German international Robert Huth will come in for Terry. New loaning signing Maniche could make his debut in midfield if Mourinho opts to play Eidur Gudjohnsen in an attacking role.
Ghana midfielder Michael Essien (ankle) is out while Chelsea wait on the fitness of Argentinian striker Hernan Crespo (hamstring). England Under-21 international Carlton Cole stands by as a possible replacement for the latter.
Provisional squad: Cech, Cudicini, Johnson, Ferreira, Gallas, Carvalho, Diarra, Del Horno, Bridge, Maniche, Makelele, Gudjohnsen, Drogba, Robben, Duff, C Cole, Crespo, Huth, Wright-Phillips.
