Macari: Keane will cope in Scotland

Former Celtic manager Lou Macari believes Roy Keane will have no problems adapting to Scottish football.

The Irishman, who signed an 18-month deal at Parkhead in the middle of December, is set to make his debut in the Tennent’s Scottish Cup third-round tie at Clyde on Sunday.

Macari, who played for Manchester United after being transferred from Celtic in the early 1970s, has no fears for the 34-year-old Keane.

He said: “Roy is capable of handling any game, whether it’s against Clyde or Rangers.

“He just wants to get back into the swing of things and start playing football and it won’t matter if it’s against a top team or a lower team.

“He’s a top player, a real competitor, and he has a presence about him.

“I’ve no doubts that he’ll be a complete success at Celtic.”
