Robert joins Benfica

Laurent Robert has completed a transfer to Benfica after passing a medical this morning.

The 30-year-old French midfielder, who cost Newcastle £9.5m (€13.8m) when he signed from Paris St-Germain in August 2001, has joined the Lisbon club on what is thought to be a free transfer.
