Jamie Clapham suffered a knee injury, although a scan has revealed no serious damage and he could be available for Monday’s home clash with Wigan.

On-loan Chelsea player Jiri Jarosik, who has impressed as a second striker playing behind Emile Heskey, is ineligible to face his long-term employers.

Marcos Painter could replace Clapham, while midfielder Muzzy Izzet will return after suspension and could play in support of Heskey.

But David Dunn, Mikael Forssell and Mario Melchiot are still sidelined through injury while Stan Lazaridis is again doubtful because of illness.

Team (from): Maik Taylor, Cunningham, Martin Taylor, Upson, Painter, Johnson, Butt, Kilkenny, Clemence, Heskey, Pandiani, Tebily, Vaesen, Lazaridis, Gray, Izzet.
