King doubtful for Magpies clash

Tottenham skipper Ledley King has a groin injury and is a major doubt for the visit of Newcastle on New Year’s Eve.

The England international picked up the problem against Birmingham on Boxing Day and missed the midweek defeat to West Brom.

Anthony Gardner is likely to continue alongside Michael Dawson in defence despite being at fault for the second goal in the 2-0 reverse at The Hawthorns.

Midfielder Teemu Tainio is doubtful with a knee injury while winger Andy Reid is definitely out with knee ligament trouble.
