Milner a doubt for Villa

James Milner is Aston Villa’s most significant new fitness doubt for the Premiership clash with Fulham.

James Milner is Aston Villa’s most significant new fitness doubt for the Premiership clash with Fulham.

The England Under-21 player limped out of yesterday’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Everton at Villa Park early in the second half with a hamstring injury. Eirik Bakke is favourite to replace Milner, if he is ruled out, as Lee Hendrie is still out of action with an Achilles problem.

Young striker Luke Moore also picked up a knock to his leg although Villa boss David O’Leary could decide to start with Milan Baros and Juan Pablo Angel anyway, who linked up well in the final stages against the Toffees. Skipper Olof Mellberg (hamstring) and striker Kevin Phillips (ankle) are still unavailable.

Team (from): Sorensen, Hughes, Delaney, Ridgewell, Bouma, Milner, Bakke, Davis, McCann, Barry, Angel, Moore, Baros, Taylor, De la Cruz, Gardner, Samuel.
