Schmeichel to go on loan next month

Manchester City boss Stuart Pearce is ready to let Kasper Schmeichel leave Eastlands on loan at some stage next month.

Schmeichel – son of legendary Danish stopper Peter – recently signed a two-year contract with the Blues.

The 19-year-old has yet to make a senior appearance for the Premiership outfit but Pearce clearly believes he has inherited some of his father’s talent and wants the youngster to further his development in the Football League.

No deal will be done until Nicky Weaver returns from his short stint at Sheffield Wednesday on January 2. But once the former England Under-21 star comes back from Hillsborough, Schmeichel will be allowed to leave.

“It will be a case of getting Nicky back after Christmas and putting Kasper out because Kasper needs the experience,” Pearce told www.mcfc.co.uk

“I would like to send him out somewhere to get first-team experience because the time is right for him now.”
