The Football Association will “plan strategically” in organising England’s friendlies between now and next summer’s World Cup, according to chief executive Brian Barwick.

Barwick will be in close consultation with coach Sven-Goran Eriksson in the coming weeks about the nature of opposition to ensure they have the best preparation for group matches against Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago and Sweden at the finals in Germany.
