Strachan hits out at coin-throwing 'moron'
Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has branded the Aberdeen fan who threw a coin at Neil Lennon a “moron”.
The Scottish Football Association have asked the Pittodrie club to explain the incident, which was included in referee Charlie Richmond’s report after the Hoops 3-1 win last Sunday.
Lennon was not struck by the missile but ex-Aberdeen midfielder Strachan was unimpressed with the fan responsible.
He said: “The person who threw the coin is not an Aberdeen supporter – he is a moron. It doesn’t matter what scarf you have on.
“If I met someone in the street and they shouted abuse at me and my family, I don’t take them for the scarf he is wearing – I just take him for a moron that he is.
“You are a moron when you walk into the stadium, not just by going in there. It is like being a racist – if you shout a racist comment that’s what you are.
“And that is what I take this person for, a moron – who hasn’t even got a very good aim.”
