Bassett sets sights on top Saints job

Southampton’s caretaker manager Dave Bassett has confirmed he wants Rupert Lowe to offer him the job on a permanent basis.

The Saints have been rocked by Harry Redknapp walking out on the club to join arch rivals Portsmouth, just 12 months after arriving from Fratton Park.
