Sheffield United defender Craig Short has resigned himself to seeing Neil Warnock appointed the new manager of Portsmouth.

The Bramall Lane board have given Warnock – who celebrates his 57th birthday today – the go-ahead to speak with the Barclays Premiership strugglers about becoming their new boss.
