FAI to open book of condolences for Best
A book of condolences will be opened for those wishing to express their feelings over the death of George Best.
The book will be open from 1pm on Monday at the Football Association of Ireland’s Dublin headquarters, 80 Merrion Square.
Speaking this afternoon, FAI chief executive John Delaney said: "It was with deep regret and sadness that the Football Association of Ireland learned this afternoon of the death of George Best.
“George was one of the best footballers ever to grace the game.
“On behalf of the FAI and the family of football in Ireland I extend sincere sympathy to George’s family and friends. May he rest in peace.”
A minute's silence will be observed at the FAI Carlsberg Cup Final between Cork City and Drogheda United at Lansdowne Road on December 4.
