Best stable but still on ventilator

A hospital spokesman of doctors treating George Best has said there has been no change in Best's condition overnight.

He remains stable but critical on a ventilator.

Doctors were hoping that he could recover further and come off his ventilator.

The football legend partly regained consciousness yesterday and was able to move his head and eyes.

The 59-year-old is in the intensive care unit at the Cromwell Hospital, west London, after he suffered a severe setback and a lung infection.
