Keane starts for Spurs
Tottenham sprang a surprise by leaving West Ham striker Jermain Defoe on the substitutes’ bench with Irish star Robbie Keane starting instead against the Hammers at White Hart Lane.
Midfielder Michael Carrick faced his old West Ham pals for the first time since a move last season while former Spurs favourite Teddy Sheringham, who scored 124 goals in 277 appearances, wore West Ham’s claret along with winger Matthew Etherington and full back Paul Konchesky – the latter having played 15 games on loan for Tottenham when with Charlton.
