Harps relegated after loss to Drogheda

Finn Harps’ relegation was confirmed within a half an hour at United Park as they fell behind and had a player sent off.

Gavin Whelan, who scored twice for Drogheda in Tuesday’s win over Bohemians, opened the scoring on 13 minutes after working a one-two with Sami Ristila.

Harps slim survival hopes suffered a second blow on 29 minutes when defender Mark Skoltock was dismissed for a foul on Mark Rooney.

Ristila then added Drogheda’s second goal on 75 minutes from Damian Lynch’s pass.
