Hearts chairman Roman Romanov is hoping to appoint a director of football within a fortnight after unveiling Graham Rix as first-team coach.

The former Arsenal and England striker, who has been appointed until the end of the season, has been told he will select the team with a director of football working over him choosing which players to bring in.

Romanov said: “We expect to do it very soon.

“We are still looking but, in a week or two, we will make a decision.

“We are looking for a professional who understands football, who can spot a good player.

“Graham will pick the team, that is his decision. He has to make sure he gets everything out of the players, he coaches them and picks the team.”
