Butragueno expects big game from Becks

Real Madrid vice-president Emilio Butragueno is looking for a big game from the reprieved David Beckham in tonight’s Primera Liga encounter with Deportivo La Coruna.

The England captain will be able to line up for an injury-hit Real side in the Riazor stadium after the Spanish FA’s disciplinary committee rescinded the red card he received during Sunday’s home match with Valencia.

Beckham was one of two Real players dismissed in the 2-1 defeat to Valencia along with Thomas Gravesen, and the duo looked likely to join Ronaldo, Julio Baptista, Michel Salgado and Zinedine Zidane on the sidelines for the trip to Depor.

But last night’s decision by the Spanish FA to uphold Real’s appeal means Beckham is free to start, and Butragueno is looking for a starring performance from the former Manchester United man.

“I hope Beckham is decisive in the match,” Butragueno told the club website, www.RealMadrid.com.

“We are pleased with the decision. We looked at the action and you have to congratulate our lawyers, because they have done a great job,” he added.

“Beckham will now be available to play for us and I hope he plays a big role and that we can win.

“We are here to defend Real Madrid’s interests and we have been successful.”

Against Valencia, Beckham was shown a yellow card for dissent and then a straight red after he sarcastically applauded referee Arturo Dauden Ibanez in the 87th minute of the game at the Bernabeu.
