Last-minute penalty puts Cork into the final
Cork City 1 Derry City 0
George O’Callaghan struck from a late penalty to end Derry’s treble dream and keep Cork’s double hopes alive as he put them into the final of the FAI Carlsberg Cup.
Despite a quagmire of a pitch, the sides served up a cracking cup tie with chances at both ends coming thick and fast.
O’Callaghan missed perhaps the best chance from play on 58 minutes when heading wide from Roy O’Donovan’s cross.
But he made amends on 87 minutes when firing home from the spot after ex-Cork striker Stephen O’Flynn had taken down Neale Fenn inside the Derry box.
